ABOUT

BIO

George Rose has an uncanny ability to capture a moment with a blink of the camera lens. For decades, he has covered the Hollywood glitterati, NFL athletes, Western landscapes, and the ever-expanding notion of “Wine Country.”

Beginning with his first Brownie and later as an Ansel Adams protégé, George led an unorthodox photographic life, particularly as journalism was added to the mix. His time spent at the Los Angeles Times, Rolling Stone, USA Today, and Time Magazine in the 1970s and 1980s gave him the privileged access required to make remarkable and historical imagery. After trading journalism for a career in wine in 1990, Rose turned his lens to the “art of terroir,” focusing on the seasonal changes taking place in some of the grandest vineyard estates around the world.

A two-time Pulitzer Prize nominee, World Press Photo Award winner, photo book author, and former co-publisher of the Mendocino Grapevine weekly newspaper, Rose resides in Healdsburg, California.
